The Hatching and Growing page is going to turn in the direction of my Bourke's parakeets for a little while now.

I have a Bourke's hen, Inga, who after failing several times last year to keep any of her babies alive, has finally figured out how to feed and raise chicks. I was absolutely thrilled to get two beautiful
daughters from her in April.
Now that she has successfully raised chicks from hatching to fully weaned, I am allowing her to raise a second clutch. To my surprise, she laid five eggs this time around!
All five appear fertile, so I am crossing my fingers to get five more baby Bourke's. Hand raised Bourke's parakeets make extremely sweet pets, so my plan is to let Inga raise three chicks this time, and take the other two out to raise myself.
As for my budgies plans, Collin and Astrid only had one female chick in their first round. I'm hoping to find out if Collin is split to ino, so I needed to let them raise a second round of chicks, in the hopes that an ino daughter will hatch.
Their first (of 8) eggs hatched yesterday, and this chick has plum colored eyes. Seven more chances left!
